What you'll do

Discover a hidden gem with the Manaslu Base Camp Trek, an extraordinary alternative to the Annapurna Circuit and Khumbu routes. Trekking this lesser-known trail, we’re treated to spectacular views of Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), the world’s eighth highest peak, alongside vibrant Tibetan heritage and diverse wildlife. This Manaslu Base Camp circuit trek takes you through bamboo forests, rugged mountain paths, and picturesque Gurung villages on the Buri Gandaki River. Climbing to high-altitude points like Manaslu Base Camp and the Larke Pass, this route challenges and rewards with unforgettable vistas and cultural encounters.


Itinerary

Upon your arrival to Kathmandu, our crew will pick you up from international airport of Kathmandu, our guide will meet you at your hotel in Kathmandu at 5 pm for the group meeting. He/she will brief you about your trip and check your gear for your trek. If you need any last-minute shopping then he/she will assist you for you backpack. Overnight at Kathmandu.
After a lovely breakfast in the morning, we start guided sightseeing tour to some most historical and spiritual attraction in Kathmandu. We will be visiting some landmarks which are considered as World Heritage Sites. This Sightseeing will be fully informative and historical. We start our day from Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu temples, followed by Bouddanath, the ancient Buddhist Stupa is one of the largest in the world. Following our day to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, is the plaza in front of the royal place of old Bhaktapur. In the afternoon we visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and explore the old royal place complex which was built on the 14th century. After we finish sightseeing, we follow the local market called Ason, crossing the busy local area we reach our hotel at Thamel. Overnight at Kathmandu.
We set off on a 7hr ride from Kathmandu towards the west to Arughat via Dhadingbesi, headquarter of Dhading district. Beautiful landscape will catch your eyes when we drive in dirt road from Dhadingbesi and we reach Arughat on bumpy roads. Arughat is the major town in the region. There is a bridge over Budhi Gandaki River. Arughat is divided in to two parts when Budhi Gandaki River flows between them. From Arughat we take drive further to Machhakhola Khola. On the way we will pass the Arkhet Bazar, Kuerepani, beautiful water fall, local shops of Arkhet Bazar. Overnight at Machakhola.
We start our walk today from Maccha Khola with undulating trails. After crossing a few streams and rocky ravines we reach the Khola Besi. We will find a hot spring there. Continues walk till afternoon takes us to the eastern bank with the help of suspension bridge. Finally we reach to Doban. Trekking from Doban to Philim is a good chance for viewing lots of natural beauties like amazing landscape and mountains like Shringi Himal (7187m). Walking on a steeply rising rocky trail we reach the Yara Khola. We continue on and cross another long suspension bridge to reach Jagat. Overnight in Jagat.
After morning breakfast in jagat, we get ourself prepared for the day ahead . After some walking we also cross the Manaslu Conservation Area then descend ahead with the trail will lead us up to Philim. We cross the Budhi Gandaki then descend down to river Shar khola. Pass through several village like Mani village, Barchham and Lihi village. After we climb for Sho village. Sho village is wonderfully crafted with stone houses. Mountains like Manaslu, Himalchuli and Saula Himal and Dwijen Himal will smile at us and that view will take your breath away. We walk for a while and then we enter Lho village. Lho has some beautiful monastery and Lama school. After passing through some forest we get to the Deng village. Overnight at Deng.
Starting the trek from Deng we again meet the Budhi Gandaki. Crossing the river again and following an uphill trail to Rana. By the Shrinng Khola suspension bridge to Ghap we stop for a lunch. We enter a dense mixed forest where we will feel the bird life and monkeys. The trail holds its height above the river. Climbing through the waterfall and another climb through to forest we finally reach Namrung. Overnight at Namrung.
With the view of beautiful village of stone houses along with Tibetan influence we move further. We climb up through the fields and past first the village of Barchham then Lihi. Again climb to Sho village again with stone houses. With the Mountain View like Manaslu, Himalchuli Saula Himal and Dwijen Himal on the both side of trail makes walk more interesting. After some walk we enter the Lho an important village with a monastery and Lama school. Overnight at Lho.
After night at Lho we put on a trekking boot and start another adventure towards Samagaon. After moving more, we get to the Thusang Khola. Mount Manaslu and Himal chuli dominate the entire landscape. Moving further on Numla Khola and the valley fades away and we finally arrive Samagaon. Samagaon is a classic Lama village with beautiful monasteries and complete looks of Tibetan culture. Overnight at Samagoan.
Today, we’ll embark on a scenic trek to Manaslu Base Camp from Sama Gaon, dedicating the day to both exploration and acclimatization. The journey takes approximately 3 hours uphill, offering breathtaking views of glacial landscapes and towering peaks, with Mount Manaslu as a stunning backdrop. Once at Base Camp, we’ll take time to rest, capture the views, and appreciate the high-altitude terrain before heading back down to Sama Gaon, a descent that takes about 2 hours. This day provides an excellent opportunity to adjust to the altitude and prepare for the journey ahead. Overnight at Samagoan.
Today we heading back towards to Chisapani, Following the same track to way up towards to Samagoan. Overnight at Chisapani.
We cross the Budhi Gandaki for and trail leads us to Machakhola the starting point of our trek. Overnight at Machakhola.
Today we will be using same offroad track to get from MachaKhola to Aarught. After reaching Aarught we will have our lunch and further drive to Kathmandu. Throughout the drive we enjoy the views of beautiful forest and landscape. Overnight at Kathmandu.
An amazing trip to the Himalayas concludes on this day. Freedom Adventures’ staff will drop you off at the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. Have a safe flight back!
