What you'll do

A journey through the mountains and nature reserves of Namibia, one of Africa's most spectacular countries. In the first part of the trip, you'll embark on a four-day trek in the Khomas Hochland, rightfully known as Namibia’s hiking mecca due to its breathtaking landscapes. Next, the journey continues to the Grootberg Massif for another trekking experience—but not before enjoying a full-day safari in Palmwag Reserve, in search of elephants and lions.


Itinerary

Arrival in Windhoek. Our guide will welcome us at the airport (12 PM), and we will travel by private vehicle to Düstenbrook Guestfarm (1-hour drive). In the afternoon, we will go on our first Safari Drive.
The trail initially follows the Otjiseva River, then leads into the savanna dotted with large trees, creating a classic African landscape. From the savanna, we will ascend towards the mountains to admire some fascinating rocky waterfalls. At the top, we will enjoy a spectacular view of the plains below. Overnight stay in a hut. Distance: 16 km (10 mi) | Elevation Gain: +450 m (+1,480 ft) -200 m (-650 ft) | Time: 5-6 hours
On this stage, we will have the opportunity to observe wildlife near waterholes and along the riverbed. The trail will gradually ascend to the campsite, where we will spend the night in a hut. Distance: 9 km (5.6 mi) | Elevation Gain: +300 m (+985 ft) -150 m (-490 ft) | Time: 3-4 hours
We will reach the summit of a mountain at 2,000 meters above sea level (6,561 ft), offering a breathtaking view. The trail then follows the river, passing through small waterfalls, perfect spots to observe wildlife. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Tree House Camp, where we will sleep in an actual treehouse—an unforgettable night. Distance: 16 km (10 mi) | Elevation Gain: +500 m (+1,640 ft) -400 m (-1,310 ft) | Time: 5-6 hours
The final day of hiking takes us back to our starting point, following the banks of the Otjiseva Riverbed. In the afternoon, we will transfer by private vehicle to Outjo Base Camp or Sophienhof (3.5-hour drive). Distance: 14 km (8.7 mi) | Elevation Gain: +200 m (+660 ft) -600 m (-1,970 ft) | Time: 4-5 hours
After breakfast, we will travel to Palmwag (3.5 hours), where we will stay at Palmwag Lodge—a perfect location for a Safari Game Drive, with the chance to see elephants, lions, and other wildlife.
From Palmwag, we will drive to Etendeka, where our first day of trekking begins. The hike will last 2-3 hours over easy terrain, leading to our overnight camp. There will be opportunities to spot wildlife, and we will sleep on elevated platforms, specially designed for stargazing in Namibia’s stunning night sky. Distance: 6-8 km (3.7-5 mi) | Elevation Gain: +150 m (+490 ft) -50 m (-165 ft) | Time: 2-3 hours
We will hike along the slopes of Grootberg Mountain. The rocky plains offer breathtaking views of the ancient Etendeka Basalt formations. Our Mountain Camp is located at the top of Crystal Mountain, surrounded by spectacular landscapes and unique rock formations. Distance: 17 km (10.5 mi) | Elevation Gain: +600 m (+1,970 ft) -300 m (-985 ft) | Time: 6-7 hours
A short 2-hour morning hike will take us to Etendeka Mountain Camp, followed by a drive back to Palmwag. In the afternoon, we will transfer to Okahandja Country Lodge or Okapuka Lodge for our overnight stay. Distance: 6 km (3.7 mi) | Elevation Gain: +200 m (+660 ft) -250 m (-820 ft) | Time: 2 hours
In the morning, we will go on a walking safari inside Okapuka Game Farm. In the afternoon, we will transfer to the airport (6 PM), marking the end of our incredible adventure. Distance: 5 km (3.1 mi) | Elevation Gain: +100 m (+330 ft) -100 m (-330 ft) | Time: 1.5-2 hours
