What you'll do

Chamonix granite, known as top preparation for Yosemite, offers world-class crack climbing from finger cracks to off-widths. This masterclass hones trad placements, crack technique, and confidence on tough terrain amid the stunning Mont Blanc massif. Whether pushing limits or refining skills, this immersive experience blends adventure, technical mastery, and high-altitude excitement in one of Europe’s most iconic climbing destinations.

Itinerary

The adventure begins in Chamonix, the heart of European alpinism. After arriving via Geneva or other routes, you’ll meet your guide and fellow climbers for a thorough briefing. Discussions cover conditions, experience levels, and a detailed gear check to ensure you're prepared for alpine trad climbing. The evening is yours to explore Chamonix, soak in the mountain atmosphere, and rest up for the exciting days ahead.
The day kicks off with a scenic ride to Plan de l’Aiguille, leading to crack climbing training at Site PPDA. You'll focus on gear placement, trad evolution, and mastering finger, hand, and fist jams. Comparing the Euro layback style with a hand-and-foot approach enhances your technique.
Back at Site PPDA, the focus is on overcoming fear through controlled falls and testing gear placements. You'll practice safe falling techniques, dynamic belays, and multipitch belay construction. The mental challenge is significant, but confidence grows by day’s end. Back in Chamonix, the evening is for rest, reflection, and prepping for the final climb.
Today, you put your skills to the test on a real multipitch trad climb in the Aiguilles Rouges. Leading independently, you’ll focus on efficiency, placements, and smooth transitions. After summiting, the journey ends with a descent to Chamonix, an icy river dip, and a celebratory feast—marking the perfect finale to a rewarding adventure.
The trip ends, but the lessons remain. After a final debrief, it’s time to pack up and head home—or start planning the next adventure. Whether it's Yosemite, the Dolomites, or another alpine challenge, this experience has provided the skills and confidence to take on bigger objectives. Until next time, the mountains will be waiting.
